Osage City – Ashley Wayne Boyd, 82, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Midland Hospice Care in Topeka, Kansas. He was born on January 14, 1943, in Aiken, South Carolina, the son of Ashley and Lizzy (Smith) Boyd.
Wayne grew up in South Carolina and then moved to Kansas. He had lived in or near Osage City since 1977.
Wayne worked as an Ironworker in Industrial Construction through most of his working career. He had worked at Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant.
On March 10, 1967, Wayne was united in marriage to Ruth Churchwell in Columbia, South Carolina. To this union two sons were born, Cherokee, Richard.
Wayne was preceded in death by his step daughter, Velvet Eargle; by his parents, Ashley and Lizzy; by his two brothers, Donnie Boyd and Howard Boyd; by his sister, Barbara-Ann (Boyd) Cosnahan; and by a granddaughter, Ashleigh Boyd.
Wayne is survived by his wife Ruth of over 58 years; his two sons, Cherokee Boyd of Estes Park, Colorado and Richard Boyd of Silver Lake; his stepdaughter, Cindy Martin of Elgin, South Carolina; by his sister, Shelby Giacobone of Bath, South Carolina; his nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Wayne will be at 11:00am on Friday, January 9, at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. Family will receive friends following the service. Burial will be in the Burlingame Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Wayne may be made to Midland Hospice House, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Avenue, Lyndon, KS 66451.
