Bridge construction is expensive and Franklin County already has one bridge being constructed and partially funded by the Kansas Department of Transportation. So, when Public Works Director, David Lee applied for funding for another, he never expected to be selected, but…surprise! He told the County Commission about the million dollar grant to replace a county bridge:
The other bridge project involves the Osborn Terrace Bridge, which is also being replaced. KDOT allocated a million and a half dollars to the county to help replace the bridge.
