Two fires were reported this past weekend. The first happened Friday night, January 3rd near Pomona. An outbuilding belonging to Terri and Kris Patton at 1500 Sand Creek Road, caught fire for an unknown reason. By the time firefighters got there, and extinguished the flames, the barn was a total loss, estimated at $80,000.

The second fire was in Princeton. Saturday morning just before noon, dispatch received a 9-1-1 call about a structure fire. When crews arrived at 102 High Street, they found that a deck on the back of a residence owned by Jerald Slayter caught fire. The ensuing flames damaged the back of the home. The cause of the fire is undetermined and a damage estimate was not available. Fire department personnel says that winter is the most common time for house fires and to be very careful with any type of open flame.
