A fire on a train passing through Osage County this morning. Fire crews responded to a report of a fire on a freight train in Osage County about two mile west of Melvern around 5:30 this morning. As first responders arrived, they saw smoke coming from a box car on the tracks near K-31 highway and Adams Street, in Southern Osage County.
The fire was extinguished quickly and initial reports indicate there was a small fire in the box car, apparently caused when the brakes locked up. Fortunately, there were no injuries or extensive damage reported to anyone on the train or to first responders on scene. Also, no hazardous materials were reported to be on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Train.
