OTTAWA — County emergency officials said the recent house-building by ABC’s :”Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” provided some extremely good training for disasters. Franklin County EMS director Nick Robbins said that he and emergency management director Alan Radcliffe believe their work at the work site – working around the clock and during days when temperatures above 100 degrees — was very similar to conditions and situations and were close to a real disaster. Indeed, Radcliffe will ask federal officials to count the Extreme Makeover work as one of the required full-dress disaster drills. EMS crews helped more than hundred people suffering from heat problems during the week of the house-building, Robbins said.
