Authorities have confirmed that a body found in a pond near U.S. 69 highway and 247th Street is that of Jordan Yust, an Olathe man reported missing earlier this month. The Miami County Sheriff’s office said it received a report around 5:30 Monday afternoon, March 24th, of a possible body in a pond on a privately owned farm. An autopsy confirmed the remains are those of Yust. While the cause of death is still under investigation, authorities say there were no signs of foul play.
Yust, a father from Olathe, was last seen March 3rd after reportedly leaving home and threatening to harm himself. That same evening, his vehicle was found just north of 247th Street along U.S. 69, not far from the pond. Despite extensive efforts, including a sonar search of the pond, three weeks of searching yielded no results. Miami County Undersheriff, Matt Kelly said the body appeared to have been in the water for at least a week.
The case remains under investigation by the Olathe Police Department and the Miami County Sheriff’s Office.
