If you are a baseball fan, a true fan of the history of the game, the Richmond Community Museum has a great day fore you. They are hosting a program about the Kansas City Monarchs with guest speaker, Phil Dixon, who just happens to be a an acclaimed author and historian on the negro leagues. Dixon will talk about a local connection as he describes the Monarchs team and its record. In 2020 the negro leagues and major league baseball merged statistics of the two groups, which revealed many interesting findings.

As one of the co-founders of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City and author of nine books about baseball, Dixon is the ultimate voice to tell the Monarchs’ story. Dixon is one of the co founders of the negro leagues museum in kansas city, and has written 9 books about the leagues, including the kansas city monarchs, who barnstormed across the area playing more than 400 games against local teams between 1920 and 1957. The event will be held Sunday, April 13th, at the Richmond Community Building at 2:00 that afternoon.
