Student enrollment in the USD 290 School District is falling and that is forcing change in the district. Next year, there will only be two teachers in the core classes at the Ottawa Middle School instead of three and changes are coming to Garfield Elementary starting next year also. Superintendent Dr. Ryan Cobbs says over time, that might effect where a student, new to the district, will be able to attend:
They will start to transition to two classes per grade next year with kindergarten and first grade. Public parent meetings were held March 26th and April 9th to explain the situation and the new plan.
