KwiKom Communications officials presented the City of Paola with the company’s Gigabit City Award, as the organization prepares to wrap up an extensive fiber internet project in the city. The award was accepted by Paola Mayor Leigh House, and many other city officials were on hand also.

Trenton Travis, Marketing Director for KwiKom, spoke at the event. He says that in 2023, KwiKom began construction of a fiber network in Paola. The network is expected to be complete by the beginning of the summer, and it will reach nearly 3,000 local businesses and homes.

He says Paola was among the first communities where they embarked on building such a network and, since then, they have expanded to 25 communities in southeast Kansas.

The Crystal Trophy Award highlights that Paola offers high-speed fiber internet, reliable connectivity, robust internet access and a foundation for economic growth. The hope is that the new service will attract business and industry as Paola is among the select cities able to offer what only 50% of U. S. citizens currently enjoy – high-speed fiber internet.
