Some highway construction that may affect your commute soon. Starting the week of April 21st, the Kansas Department of Transportation plans to start a culvert repair project on I-35 in Franklin County. The 21-mile project area begins at the Osage-Franklin county line and continues northeast to the I-35-U. S. 59 north junction. KDOT says there will be intermittent lane closures on I-35, with no significant effects expected to traffic. Weather permitting, the project should be completed by mid-July.

KDOT awarded L. Underwood llc, of Ottawa, the $803,113 construction contract. Drivers are urged to slow down and be extra cautious and obey the posted signs in all work zones. If you need more information on the project and other construction activity on state highways in Kansas, visit ‘candrive.gov’ or call the Kansas Roadway Information Line. That number is 511.
