The Ottawa City Commission considered applicants for the Accessibility Advisory Board and Library Board at Wednesday’s meeting, April 30th. There was one position open for each board. The commission was considering two applicants for Accessibility Advisory Board. Commissioners were impressed with the quality of both applicants: former special education teacher Nicole Hitchcock and Ottawa High School Principal ,Kelly Whitaker. With the board currently limited to 9 members, commissioners proposed expanding the board to include both. A lengthy discussion ensued and in the end, the commission appointed Kelly Whitaker to the board.
As for the Library Board, Jo Ann Nowatzke was the commissions choice for the board. Both the positions were tabled after last week’s meeting to get further input and allow commissioner Sara Caylor to vote.
