The Ottawa High School Chapter of the FFA is competing at the FFA State Convention Career Development events from May 4th through the 6th at Kansas State University. They will be competing in three different categories. The Food Science team consists of Kai Duckworth, Gavin Helget, Owen Franks and Raylee Johnson. This event will require students to have an in-depth understanding of food product development, food presentation and food safety issues. The Horse Evaluation team is Piper Stottlemire, Jayden Bolden, Emalie Powell and Claire Erwin. Students will gain new insights into equine science by evaluating and ranking horses based on breed characteristics, conformation and performance. The Veterinary Science groupe is Emalai Powell, Kamberlyn Rubick, Ashanty Graves and Alexis Devaul. Students working in teams will demonstrate their technical competency with small and large animals by completing a written exam, critical-thinking scenario questions, identifications and hands-on practicums.
The events are designed to help prepare students for careers in agriculture. Good luck to all!
