The Franklin County Optimist Club is providing boys and girls in Ottawa the opportunity to learn how to play the game of golf this summer. Registration is open for the Bill Smell Junior Golf Program, which will be held at the Ottawa Golf Course. There will be instruction on all aspects of golf, from simply striking the ball, correct swing, chipping, putting and much more. Registration forms can be found on the Franklin County Optimist Club facebook page, at the golf course, and at the USD 290 board office.
There are two age groups. Ages 7 to 9 will be on Monday and Wednesday through the month of June. Ages 10 to 13 every Tuesday and Thursday at 10:00 in the morning. Cost is $40 per golfer, however, scholarships are available based on financial need. The deadline for this incredible program is coming up soon. Registration needs to be in by Friday, May 23rd.
