An Osawatomie man, accused of inappropriately touching two girls, ages 8 and 9, during a sleepover, has been sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty by a Miami County jury earlier this year. Twenty eight-year-old Matthew Gulley, was charged with two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child following the incident that took place October 22nd, 2023, at a home in Osawatomie. Miami County Attorney, Kent Harding, says Gulley was sitting on a couch between the two girls when he put his arms around them and touched them inappropriately.

Defense Attorney, John Boyd, suggested a sentence of 155 months on each account, with the sentences running concurrently. Harding filed a response to the motion stating that the listed factors are not a substantial or compelling reason to depart from the sentencing grid.

Chief District Judge, Amy Harth, agreed and denied the motion at the sentencing hearing. She sentenced Gulley to life in prison on both charges, with the sentences to run concurrently. He will not be eligible for parole until at least 25 years are served.
