As summer approaches and amusement parks and carnivals prepare to open their gates, the Kansas Department of Labor Industrial Safety and Health Division, is launching their 2025 Amusement Ride Safety Awareness Campaign. The initiative highlights the importance of safety for all — ride operators, parents and riders — and encourages everyone to do their part to ensure a fun and incident-free summer. Ride inspectors emphasize that ride operators must conduct regular inspections and follow established safety protocols. Parents should supervise their children and make sure they meet the height and weight requirements and, riders should always follow posted rules and instructions from staff. When everyone works together, the risk of injury is reduced and the level of fun goes up.
Throughout the month of June, the Industrial Health Division will share a new set of amusement ride safety tips for parents and a variety of safety tips on the Department of Labor social media channels to help families and operators understand the role each person plays in amusement ride safety.
