The Ottawa Police Department has announced the start of two new community policing programs, one aimed at teens , the other toward adults. The Teen Safety Academy will focus on law enforcement in the community and go over topics such as patrol duties, traffic stops, communication, demonstration of non- lethal force, crime scene investigations, personal safety and much more. It will be held July 14th to the 18th and is open to a teens 14 to 19, with parents that live or work in Franklin County. It is free and lunch will be provided.
The Fall Citizen Public Safety Academy will be held Monday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 and last between 8 to 10 weeks and go over similar items.
Ottawa Police Chief, Adam Weingartner, will be our guest this morning right after the 7 o’clock news, with more information and he and Captain J. W. Hawkins will present to the Ottawa City Commission at their meeting Wednesday, June 11th.
