Auto thieves struck Ottawa early Sunday morning, June 15th. Just after midnight, the Ottawa Police Department was dispatched to Victory Dodge in Ottawa on East 23rd Street. A witness reported that several suspects had used their vehicle to crash through the dealership sales floor and steal a 2023 Dodge Challenge , Hellcat Jailbreak Edition. It fled north on I-35 where Wellsville Police located the stolen car and gave pursuit. It fled into Johnson County where multiple agencies assisted and attempted to stop the vehicle. The Overland Park Police successfully deployed a tire deflation device, but the vehicle continued to flee. Wellsville Police discontinued the chase as it continued eastbound on I-435 into Kansas City Missouri, and they got away.
Detectives from the Ottawa Police are investigating and will collect evidence from all the agencies that assisted in attempting to apprehend the suspects. If you have any information about the stolen car, you are urged to call police.
Victory Auto has been the target of several thefts in recent years.
