With the heat rising outside and temperatures inside our houses keeping our air conditioners running almost constantly, there are some things you can do to help keep your house cool and not run the electric bill through the roof. A tip, make sure your air conditioner vents are not blocked or covered up in the house. Evergy Senior Manager, Kevin Brannon with some tips:
Brannan says Energy Star and the Department of Energy recommends the home temperature to be kept near 77 degrees, but Brannan recommends to just stay safe and comfortable. Evergy’s website lists tips such as installing window coverings to prevent heat from entering your home, using fans and ventilation to cool your home and making sure the air conditioning is running without conflict. Also, a huge thing…change your air conditioner filters! That alone will do wonders on the air flow through your house.
