The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has issued a water boil advisory for the city of Rantoul. The advisory was issued early this morning due to a water line break resulting in a loss of pressure in the distribution system, which can lead to bacterial contamination. Customers should take precautions such as boiling water for one minute prior to drinking or using bottled water. Don’t use ice cubes from an automatic icemaker. If your water appears dirty, flush the lines until it runs clear. Disinfect dishes and food contact surfaces by immersion in tap water that contains one teaspoon of unscented bleach per gallon. Water used for bathing does not need to be boil, but watch young children so they don’t ingest it. The advisory will remain in effect until the KDHE determines there is no contamination.
Again, a water boil advisory in effect for the city of Rantoul until further notice.
