The Ottawa City Commission in another long meeting yesterday, held discussion about community partner requests for funding for next year. One area that invoked a long discussion was the Ottawa fireworks. They had requested a $5,000 increase for next year. With next year being the 250th Anniversary of the our nation’s Declaration of Independence, commissioners agreed to provide $9,500 as a one time allocation. Finance Director Melanie Landis
In the end, the commission moved the request to next week to gather more information about the cost of the show and if this would be a one time request for an increase due the 250th anniversary, or a continued request.
