The Ottawa Library presented their 2026 budget to the Ottawa City Commission. Library Director Terry Chartier told commissioners that some of their budget priorities include being good stewards of taxpayer funds, and they have been a partner with the city for 153 years, since 1872. She broke down part of the budget with the city and had some good news about one of the properties they own:
Even though the library mill rate is the same, due to increased valuation, their total budget will go up about $80,000. Chartier added that fundraising for renovation of the proposed new library at Second and Walnut continues.
