Four Kids For Kritters has opened a new cabin for …cats.
Eunice Mollett is on a mission to save cats, and now her non-profit rescue operation south of Osawatomie has a new cabin to house felines in need of a new home.
The Osawatomie Chamber of Commerce helped celebrate the completion of the new cat cabin with a ribbon cutting and open house Saturday, June 28th, at Mollett’s property at 38280 Plum Creek Road, south of Osawatomie and north of Beagle.
The cat cabin is climate-controlled and features seven double-stacked kennels, giving the cats plenty of space. Mollett said it didn’t take long to fill up the cabin, which currently houses 16 cats, including kittens. Four Kids For Kritters is a licensed rescue, operating out of her home. The new cat cabin has been inspected and approved by the Kansas Department of Agriculture.
The operation grew into a licensed rescue, and Eunice says all of their animals have age-appropriate vaccines and are spayed or neutered and microchipped before they are rehomed. Controlling the stray cat population is important to Eunice and her volunteers. In April 2024, the Osawatomie City Council agreed to let Four Kids for Kritters kick off a pilot trap-neuter-return (TNR) program targeting stray cats in Osawatomie. The name of the rescue, Four Kids For Kritters, pays tribute to the four Mollett children.
