The Fox 4 Zip Trip Event was in Ottawa yesterday, July 25th. The rain tried to put a damper on things. The news crew with anchor Pat McGonigle and weather person, Michelle Bogowith, was moved to the Bottle House and a crowd of about 100 people were on hand for the event. Reporter Cathy Quinn made visits to several locations in Ottawa, promoting the city and what it has to offer. Several people in Ottawa made an appearance on the show, including OMA Director, Tiffany Evans, who talked about the history of the building and some of famous acts it has seen, including Johnny Cash, as well as some upcoming events.
Downtown was a little damp, but vendors were set up in the 200 block of Main and classic cars lined the west side of the block. With the rain, the mood was a bit dampened, but you could still feel the excitement in the air.
Zip Trips are designed to promote small towns as a destination city for people in the KC Metro, to travel to and hopefully spend a little money and want to return to in the future. Ottawa was one of only two Kansas towns selected this year.
