The Ottawa Library Board of Trustees met last night, July 28th. One of the items discussed was the ongoing fundraising campaign with Swanson House, a national, full-service fundraising consulting firm out of Emporia, dedicated to nonprofit organizations. The library purchased the Bottlehouse in March and plan to renovate the building into a new library. Director Terry Chartier explains the reasons for a new library:
She says they plan on adding a rooftop reading area, popular in many new libraries, adding two patios in the front. She added that back in 2018 they were looking for a location for a new library in downtown Ottawa. At that time, no properties were available. The Walnut Street location meets all those needs and they will target fundraising efforts to renovate the building.
