A significant anonymous donation of school supplies will allowed the Miami County Sheriff’s Office to host a Back-2-School Supply giveaway event today, August 9th. The event will take place from 10:00 to 2:00 at the sheriff’s office in Paola.
Officials started organizing the event after receiving the initial donation, and soon other donations were made to help complete supply kits. The Miami County Cops for Tots program at the sheriff’s office also provided funding and donations.
The sheriff’s office says the event is open to anyone in need, including students, teachers, paraprofessionals, administrative staff and more.
Want to help? The sheriff’s office is still accepting donations, with a real need for backpacks, lunch boxes, highlighters, glue sticks, water bottles, pencil boxes, binders, glue and pencils. On a facebook post, they say any remaining supplies will be distributed evenly among Miami County schools. They add that they want everyone to work together to give the kids a strong start to the school year.
