The City of Garnett is getting serious about a proposed sales tax increase. They sent out some preliminary information with utility bills this past month. At the Garnett City Commission meeting Tuesday night, August 12th, Mayor Mark Locke took issue with the flyer that was presented:
City Attorney, Terry Solander, says it doesn’t matter what the flyer says. It’s the language on the actual question on the ballot that determines how the funds can be used and he says it will mention various infrastructure projects including the wastewater treatment plant.
