The power outage that affected the City of Ottawa Wednesday morning, August 13th, left about 1,300 people without power for about 20 minutes. The outage was caused by a turkey vulture attempting to retrieve his prey and coming in contact with the electrical break switches. The City of OttawA gave a eulogy to the vulture, known as Buzz, at the City Commission Meeting Wednesday. It read:

“Buzz tragically departed this world 11:00 Wednesday morning pursuing a noble cause– lunch. Unfortunately, his chosen dining spot proved to be a dangerous location for both he and his entree, an unidentified squirrel. In a single ill-fated moment, Buzz made contact with multiple energized phases, resulting in an immediate and spectacular exit from this life. A resident of Ottawa’s skies for a number of years, Buzz will be remembered for his keen eye, unwavering patience and dedication to community cleanup efforts. His passing left our skies a little emptier. Buzz is survived by countless other vultures circling above Franklin County and beyond. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you simply look up from time to time and appreciate the wonders… and hazards of the over head world. Fly high, Buzz”
