Preliminary estimates reported by the Kansas Department of Labor and the Bureau of Labor Statistics show a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 3.8% in June. This is unchanged from 3.8% in May and an increase from 3.6% in June 2024. The labor force participation rate for Kansas stayed the same at 67.0% in June. Seasonally adjusted job estimates for Kansas indicate total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 3,800 from May. Total nonfarm includes private sector and government employers.

Private sector jobs increased by 3,200 over the month, while government increased by 600. The largest job gains in the private sector were in private education and health services, gaining more than 1,900 jobs. The largest decrease was in construction which lost 800 jobs.

Since June 2024, Kansas’ seasonally adjusted total nonfarm jobs have increased by 10,300. This change is due to an increase of 6,700 private sector jobs and an increase of 3,600 government jobs.
