If you’ve ever been on 15th Street from the trail toward Main Street after school, particularly on a Friday, you know a lot of kids are making their way up the street toward Dairy Queen and other places. But, once they get past the trail, there is no sidewalk, and they are forced into the street for the final block. The City of Ottawa is planning on fixing that. The city commission approved a plan to put a sidewalk along the north side of that block. Utilities Director Scott Snethen says it is going to present some challenges:
Commissioners approved GFT to do the engineering on the sidewalk and the new traffic signal at 15th and Main for just over $78,000.
