Recently, the Flint Hills State Park Trail was voted into the Rails To Trails Conversancy Hall of Fame. This recognition will have a direct impact on Kansas communities along the trail, in advancing outdoor recreation and connectivity across the region. Already, Ottawa officials are saying they are seeing the effects of the honor, as several people have stopped in local stores and said they were here specifically to ride the trail.
To celebrate this huge accomplishment, you are invited to Legacy Square this afternoon, September 6th, for the official induction ceremony of the Flint Hills Trail State Park into the Rails To Trails Conservancy’s Hall of Fame. Special signage will be presented and several speakers will talk about the importance of the trail, particularly to Ottawa as we are the only city in Kansas to have the intersection of two major trails. The ceremony starts at 2:00 this afternoon at Legacy Square.
