The Franklin County Board of Commissioners approved their new budget at last night’s Revenue Neutral Hearing. Only five citizens spoke at the meeting, all concerned about the massive increases in property taxes , some questioning how individual properties are assessed. One of those was Shawn Wilson, who gave an example of a house she owns in Wellsville.
Commissioners approved the budget of just over 18.7 million dollars, a mill levy at 45.142 mills. 59th District Representative Rebecca Mills says the Kansas Legislature will be, once again, looking at ways to curb property tax increases.
