Yesterday, September 18th, a potential threat was received at USD 365 Anderson County Schools. Superintendent Ryan Most says school administration and local law enforcement were immediately notified, and the USD 365 Chief of Police worked closely with the Garnett Police Department and, through their rapid response, law enforcement determined that no threat was planned or able to be carried out. The individual responsible was identified, and the Garnett Police Department has addressed the matter and it is resolved.
According to a social media post by Most…a Garnett elementary student generated a threatening message with an image, and at least one local student saw the message. No school or school district was referenced in the message. He reiterates that law enforcement has resolved the issue. Today, all schools will operate on a normal schedule with classes, events, and activities as planned. Local law enforcement will be present and visible during Garnett elementary arrivals to provide reassurance and a sense of safety for students, families, and staff.
