One person received critical injuries in a car versus scooter accident west of Ottawa. Yesterday morning, September 24th, Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies, EMS and Northwest Fire were called to the area of K-68 and Florida Road for the accident. Upon arrival, they discovered that a man riding a Kymco Agility scooter had been traveling eastbound on K-68 when it was struck from behind by a vehicle traveling in the same direction. The driver of the scooter, a 34-year-old Claycomo, Missouri man was severely injured in the crash and was transported to Overland Park Regional Hospital for treatment of thoes injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, a 31-year-old Ottawa man, reported no injuries. The identities of those involved was not released, nor was the condition of the person injured. The incident is still under investigation by the Franklin County Crash Team.
Also yesterday morning, the Franklin County Sheriff’s office and the Ottawa Police Department Special Tactics and Rescue Team executed a search warrant for distribution of methamphetamine at 118 N. Kallock Street in Richmond. 42-year-old Wanda Helm was arrested on two charges of distribution of methamphetamine, possession of meth and possession of felony and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia.
