If you have driven Main Street the past couple weeks, you may have noticed that the intersection at First and Main is a four-way stop. The initial damage was a bit more intensive than originally thought. Utilities Director Scott Snethen:
Two weeks ago, the brakes went out on a vehicle and the driver lost control, smashing into the control box on the northwest corner of the intersection. Ottawa police remind drivers that at a four-way stop, the first vehicle to arrive has the right of way. If two or more vehicles arrive at the same time, the vehicle to the right has the right of way. When facing oncoming vehicles, the vehicle going straight has the right of way over a vehicle turning left.
