The history of Ottawa is fascinating and some of the stories and events are even more dramatic. One of those stories involves the Zellner Building, which one stood at 2nd at Main, where Hailey Park is today. It was a glorious building when it was built and even had an opera house and a skating rink on the third floor. A structural failure in 1980 led to it collapsing into the street. Franklin County Historical Society Director Diana Staresinic-Deane on an upcoming exhibit at the Old Depot Museum:

The Zellner Building is featured in the new exhibit now open at the Old Depot Museum. Also, this evening a program called “Buildings On the Brink” will be presented at the auditorium . This will entail stories about downtown buildings that are now thriving as told by the owners who have given them new life. That is tonight, September 15th, at 7:00.
