Baldwin Police Chief, Mike Patrick addressed the public yesterday with a social media post. He says there have been quite a few calls concerning interactions and sometimes confrontations with a local man who has been walking around town near homes at different hours of the day and night. He has also been seen riding a lawn mower.

While being as private as possible about mental health conditions, Chief Patrick says he and his officers are familiar with the person and are trying to help him when possible. He asks the public if they see someone in need of mental health assistance to call them so they can try to help. If someone is on your property and won’t leave, call the police. Do not confront any person in that situation. He adds that trying to help someone who is in a manic state is not always safe and they want to reduce the chances of something unfortunate happening.

There are times when a person in crisis doesn’t want help, but that does not mean they can stay on your property. They will try to resolve any situation at any hour of the day or night. He urges the residents to always call them if they see anything suspicious or criminal.
