An accident on a county road in the fog severely injured two people. Just after 7:30, September 19, a 16-year-old Overbrook male was traveling westbound on Reno Road in a Toyota Tacoma when he ran a stop sign at the intersection of Colorado and Reno Roads. He was struck by a 2007 Dodge Nitro driven by 60-year-old Teri Hiatt, of Vassar. A 14-year-old male passenger in the Tacoma was ejected from the vehicle, landing in the roadway. He and Hiatt both sustained serious injuries. The boy was transported to Children’s Mercy Hospital and Hiatt to Saint Francis Hospital in Topeka for treatment of those injuries. No word on their condition.
