How about some good news!
This week’s Donuts for Do-Gooders goes to the entire ObGyn and birthing crew at AdventHealth Ottawa. After a two year hiatus, having babies in Ottawa is back. The obstetrics unit reopened on September 22nd. The dedicated staff of 19 is led by Dr. Bridget Abney and joined by 2 other new physicians, Dr. Raven Weiss and Dr. Haley Lowell. Dr. Abney decided to make the move from a 23-year career in the Kansas City area because she saw the community need and liked AdventHealth Ottawa’s passion for re-opening.
Dr.’s Weiss & Lowell says they were both drawn to the community because of the people and the “culture, and both officially started September 8th. They didn’t know each other before coming to Ottawa, but they have become fast friends and say they love delivering babies. Dr. Weiss is originally from San Diego and moved to the Kansas City area in her teens. Dr. Lowell grew up in Concordia and is both a K-State & KU med school graduate.
Some more good news…the first baby born at AdventHealth Ottawa was delivered on Wednesday, October 1st! Congratulation to the doctors, nurses and technicians that have made AdventHealth Ottawa open for babies.
