October is Cancer Awareness Month, but the Paola Masonic Lodge couldn’t wait…they presented a check for $5,000 to the Miami County Cancer Foundation.
Lodge member Randy Cornelius says the Lodge Community Grant Program is a new program this year, funded through the Kansas Masonic Foundation, the charitable arm of Kansas Masons. The support from the Paola Masonic Lodge will benefit people in Miami County fighting cancer.
Miami County Cancer Foundation President, Regi Smail says the Miami County community and business sponsorships, donations and grants are the lifeblood of the Miami County Cancer Foundation, and they can’t provide the resources necessary to those fighting cancer without donations like the one from the Masonic Lodge.
The Miami County Cancer Foundation raises money to help those in the county with their battle against cancer. With the funds they receive they are able to provide clients with grocery gift cards, gas gift cards and helping with utilities. They also have medical equipment to provide to Wellsville clients at no cost.
