The election in November features many races in Miami County. One of those is for the Osawatomie City Council Ward 2 Seat. Incumbent Kevin Chastain is being challenged by Brandon Willey. Chasteen says his top priority would be to continue with street improvements and work hard to bring economic development. He is also a strong advocate for the city’s plan to build a new water plant as the one now is very old and new one would provide a much better quality of life.
Willey says his top priority, if elected, would be whatever is best for the city. As for the water plant, Willey says he understands the want and need of a new plant, but feels the design and planning may have been rushed. He says Osawatomie has a strong sense of community pride, but recently, the wants of the few have outweighed the desires of the many.
