The USD 365 School Board race has a fourth write in candidate. Long time educator, Skip Landis has thrown his hat into the ring, saying his more than 40 years in public education can be of value to the district. In announcing his candidacy, Landis touted his work experience from the classroom to the superintendent’s office as an advantage for a board member slot. He says he has written curriculums for districts and have implemented those curriculums when he was working for Garnett USD 365 as an administrator. He also states that he has written grants for school districts for afterschool programs, curriculum, and technology which were funded at $1.9 million.
Landis is a familiar face among local civic efforts. Landis says, as a strong student advocate, he offers grant writing and budget development experience as well as a background in developing vocational programs, improving athletic programs and confronting declining student enrollment and strategic planning. Landis is running for Position Number 5 and says that students should be the boards most important business.
