Fall temperatures aren’t the only thing that’s dropping at this time. Gas and diesel fuel prices also continue to head south in Kansas and across the nation. The price for a gallon of unleaded gas in Ottawa this morning ranged from $2.54 to $2.79. According to AAA, the average price of gas in Kansas yesterday, October 20th, was $2.73, that’s down about six cents from a month ago, but, actually up three cents from a year ago. The lowest prices in the state were reported in Meade County at $2.29 a gallon. The highest gas prices in the state were reported in Miami County at $2.99 a gallon yesterday.
AAA expects the price of gas to continue to fall throughout the fall and winter as oil prices have tumbled, and as cold weather sets in and fewer people will be out traveling. That trend does change a bit around Thanksgiving and Christmas.
