This week, October 20th, marks the start of School Bus Safety Week and the Kansas Highway Patrol would like to remind motorists that school bus safety is an important part of driver etiquette. Motorists are reminded to be aware of all school zones and school bus stop signs. Bus drivers must activate the bus’s crossing control arm when loading or unloading students. Last year, nearly 131,000 school bus drivers reported that 95,315 vehicles passed their buses illegally on a single day. Throughout a 180-day school year, these sample results point to more than 17 million violations among America’s driving public. Remember… if the red light is flashin’, don’t be passin’
