Governor Laura Kelly proclaimed today, November 18th, as National Injury Prevention Day in Kansas. This day highlights the efforts of safety advocates across the state, working together to educate families and community leaders about ways to create and support safer environments. This is the sixth year for this annual observance, which shines a light on the importance of injury and violence prevention. According to Cherie Sage, State Coordinator for Safe Kids Kansas, approximately every two minutes a preventable injury-related death occurs in the U. S.. she says the good news is many of these injuries and deaths are preventable by using safety practices, products and smart policies.
The mission of National Injury Prevention Day is to empower individuals and communities with the tools and information they need to prevent injuries and create safer environments for everyone. Through education, advocacy, and collaboration, we work to reduce the burden of preventable injuries and save lives.
