Osage County Sheriff Chris Wells has released an update on the four Osage County Deputies that were shot in a disturbance Saturday morning. Deputy Christian Moran, Corporal Clayton Hartpence, K9 Deputy James Cason, and Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper Adam Ellis, were injured by gunfire while responding to a domestic disturbance call. All four officers were taken to the hospital for treatment. Wells says while each of the officers are receiving excellent care, they all have a long road ahead toward a full recovery, and this is only the beginning of the healing process for them and their families.

Many people have asked how they can help the officers and their families during their recovery. A fund has been established at the Lyndon State Bank for monetary donations and they can be dropped off or mailed to the bank. Gift cards, snacks and other items can also be mailed or delivered to the Osage County Sheriff’s Office in Lyndon. Also, the Kansas Highway Patrol has established a monetary fund for Trooper Ellis and his family. Donations can be made at ‘kstroopers.com/donate. That link can be found on KOFO’s facebook page. Please select “Kansas Trooper’s Foundation” and write “Ellis” in the “other comments” box.
