All three Osage County deputies wounded in a Saturday shooting, are now at home, while a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper injured in the same incident, remains hospitalized. Osage County Sheriff, Chris Wells told WIBW 13 news that all three have a long road ahead of them, but he is encouraged by their progress and grateful they are able to continue their recovery at home. He adds that he is thankful for the outpouring of support from the community.
Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper, Adam Ellis is still at the KU Med Center recovering from his injuries. The KHP says Ellis suffered two gunshot wounds and is in stable condition after surgery.
The four officers responded to a domestic call Saturday morning, November 15th, near Carbondale and got into a shootout with 22-year- Stephen McMillan, who was killed.
Funds are set up to support the families. Donations to the Osage County Sheriff Support Fund can be mailed or delivered to the Lyndon State Bank. The sheriff’s office is accepting gift cards and other items at their office in Lyndon.
