Some updates for you from the City of Ottawa and Franklin County. First, a reminder from the City of Ottawa that the restrooms in Forest Park will be closed for the winter after Sunday, November 16th. Also, all city water fountains will be shut off at that time as city crews prepare them for the winter season. Leaving them open during the cold weather months exposes them to frozen pipes and water lines that may lead to extensive repair.
From Franklin County Public Works, Texas Road north of K-68 in Franklin County will close for a bridge replacement project starting November 24th. The bridge is 1.5 miles north of K-68 between Pawnee and Sand Creek Roads and 6 miles east of Ottawa. This section of the gravel road will be closed throughout the project, which is expected to be completed in the spring of 2026, conditions permitting. We’ll have more details on the bridge soon.
