So much for Rosie O’Donnell’s attempt at a U. S. boycott of black Friday. Black friday sales were very strong with online spending reaching $11.8 billion in the United States, a 9% increase over last year. In- store traffic was also up with retail sales increasing 4.1% over last year. Top online categories include video game consoles, electronics and home appliances. Top in-store items included the same merchandise, but clothing sales were also up, as were toy sales, and gifts from unique stores in small towns.

Today is known as cyber Monday, an online shopping holiday that occurs the Monday after Thanksgiving, marked by major discounts and sales from e-commerce retailers. Retailers offer a wide variety of discounts, deals, and promotions on a wide range of products, including electronics, home goods, and clothing. We still encourage you to shop local as much as possible and keep your money in your own community
