Curtis “Corky” L. Miller, 96, of Ottawa, Kansas, peacefully passed away on December 17, 2025 at Hospice House Olathe.   He was born in Formosa, Kansas on August 4, 1929 to Culver and Rena Leona (Gates) Miller.

After serving in the Army from 1947-1949 he began his career with Cities Service Gas Company.    He continued his employment with the company until January 1, 1986 at which time he retired after 37 years.    He also did side jobs, painting and texturing ceilings for many years.

He married Hilda Logan on July 31, 1950.   They shared over 68 years of marriage.  Together, they cultivated many friendships due to living in numerous locations and through their membership in the Power of the Past.   Many of the relationships they built were more than just friendships, they became extended members of the family.    They spent their retirement years at the Lake of the Ozarks and in South Texas.

He was never one to sit still for long—there was always work to be done, whether it was his own or something he noticed someone else needed help with. He had a servant’s heart and was always ready to lend a helping hand.

A kid at heart, Corky especially loved spending time with children. He delighted in teaching them to ski, sharing boating adventures, and playing games—bringing joy, laughter, and lasting memories to everyone around him.

He is survived by his daughter Sheri (Sam) Harris; his daughter-in-law Connie Miller; grandchildren Jeff (Kathy) Miller, Jeanne (Andy) Swires, and Cori (Nathan) Oglesby; and his great-grandchildren, Lindsay Miller, Tjaeden (Taylor) Swires, L. Brandtley Swires, Taysen Swires, Caleb Oglesby, and Ava Oglesby.  He is also survived by 4 great-great-grandchildren, as well as many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda; his son, Bill; his parents, Culver & Leona Miller; his siblings Dennis Miller, Betty Brill, and Audrey Taylor.

Corky was known for his unwavering work ethic and the genuine compassion and kindness he showed to everyone he met. He deeply loved his family and treasured his friendships, investing himself fully in the lives of those he cared about. His steady presence, generous spirit, and loyal heart will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
