This morning, December 19th, at 7:14, Franklin County Emergency Communications received a report of a threat at Sacred Heart School and Church in Ottawa. Ottawa Police officers were dispatched to the scene to investigate. The threat was left on a voicemail at the school and threatened that there was a bomb in the building. Officers searched the buildings and found nothing suspicious. No school was scheduled for today and there were no church services at the time of the threat.

The Ottawa Police Department is aware of other threats made around the region during this same time and are in communication with other local, state and federal agencies. All other Ottawa schools and colleges were notified immediately after the incident was discovered. The Ottawa Police Department takes any threat to a school or house of worship seriously and will thoroughly investigate this incident.

At least a dozen other catholic schools in the Kansas City area received similar threats, including one in Bucyrus. As Ottawa police indicated, all law enforcement agencies are working together, along with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, to find out who is responsible for the threats.
